Torquay Museum
The Museum houses several biological collections of considerable scientific interest. The Ogilvie Store is equipped with a roller racking system that holds in excess of 150,000 specimens, in a dehumidified environment. This is by far the largest collection in the Museum, and includes, insects, plants, shells, birds, reptiles and mammals, with approximately 6,000 geological samples. Many important local collections are housed here such as the Griffiths collection of seaweeds and algae, and the Ashe collection of British beetles, but the store also holds many thousands of exotic and tropical species especially insects and shells.

Princess Theatre
The Princess Theatre first opened it’s doors on Wednesday 7th June 1961. Top of the bill on the opening night were the late, great Tommy Cooper and the legendary Morecambe and Wise.

The theatre was built by Torbay Council as the main feature of the redevelopment of the Princess Gardens area on Torquay seafront. The theatre replaced a marquee which was erected annually to house light entertainment.

Theatres in seaside resorts are traditionally known for their annual Summer Season consisting of light entertainment and family variety shows and Torquay is no exception. In the past the Princess Theatre has seen artistes such as Jim Davidson, Jethro and Jimmy Cricket making regular appearances. However Summer 2002 saw a change from the traditional line-up to a 6 week run consisting of two West End musicals Grease and Chicago. Summer 2003 saw a similar occurrence, featuring the Blues Brothers, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat and Boogie Nights, with musicals proving to be a popular choice for the local people of Torbay as well as the holidaymakers.

Babbacombe Model Village
The original idea for the model village was to be a representation of an imaginary area of English countryside. English country life in an 'idealised' form, with distinct building styles of farms, country houses, lakes and waterfalls.

Later in the development, as a contrast, the city - a substantial modern town - was added. Complete with some well known brand names and shops.

Since the village opened in 1963 the park has continued to expand the number of features on display. Environmental features were also added such as a wind farm and hydro electic dam.

Nowadays, set in four acres of gardens there are over 400 models of houses, stately homes, factories, shops, entertainment venues, environmental features, along with railways, vehicles and some well known monuments and landmarks. And not forgetting, of course, 13,000 miniature people who live in the village.
